Jacksonville, NC – Evelyn Dole of Raleigh, NC and Conner Lewis of Davidson each won their division in the fourth annual Jimmy Anderson Junior Invitational hosted by Jacksonville Country Club in Jacksonville, NC. This annual 36-hole junior tournament was created in 2009 by the junior golf alumni of Jacksonville Country Club in honor of their long time teacher and friend, Jimmy Anderson. The 96-player field consisted of junior golfers from North and South Carolina.

Dole, a high school junior, finished the tournament with a two day total of five over par 149. Dole followed up her first round of 74 with a 75 on the George Cobb designed golf course. 2011 champion Emily Brooks of Chapel Hill, NC finished tied for second place after shooting a one over par 73 on Sunday to finish with a total of 154. Also at 154 was Tara Simmons of Goldsboro, NC. Sarah Bae of Cary, NC finished tied for fourth place at 156 with Mark Katherine Donovan of Hampstead, NC.

Lewis, a high school senior, had to go extra holes to secure his victory. Lewis along with Eric Bae of Cary, NC and Joshua Martin of Pinehurst, NC all finished with a 36-hole total of one under par 143. Lewis rolled in a six foot putt on the first hole for a birdie three to take the boys’ title. Benjamin Griffin of Chapel Hill, NC missed the playoff by two shots and finished alone in fourth place at one over par 145. First round leader Trey Guy of Fayetteville, NC and William Gordon of Davidson, NC finished tied for fifth place at 146. Lewis has signed to play collegiate golf at Radford University.

This annual junior tournament is conducted by the Tarheel Youth Golf Association, a division of the Carolinas Golf Association.
