Mr. Teubner outlined future plans for the association which include regional qualifying, a state championship, and educational programs.

Mr. Zimmerman thanked the CGA for their involvement and professionalism in junior golf and competition. He also stated that he would like to see the CGA's assistance and involvement with the state high school championships.

Mr. Duncan agreed the CGA should have a larger role in high school and middle school golf, noting his experiences in with the CGA as a junior player. Mr. Fields stated his involvement with the CGA and TYGA has been a very positive one.

Mr. Parrish stated the CGA needs to seek sanctioning by the NCHSAA for the newly formed association. Mr. Teubner replied a request would be made following the 2002 championship. Also Mr. Teubner informed those present that a logo and other items needed to have to a full- fledged association would be created in the near future.

Mr. Parrish asked about private schools potential involvement. Mr. Teubner replied there would be no restrictions placed on schools to join the association, noting even home schooled players would be eligible. This was agreed upon by those present.

Those present agreed that for now, the association's championship needs to be in the fall, citing golf course availability and other factors.

Mr. Zimmerman, Mr. Wood, Mr. Parrish and Mr. Jones were of the opinion expanding to have three regional qualifiers for 2003 would be both feasible and advisable to serve the numbers of middle school teams and golfers that would eventually be a part of the association.

Mr. Teubner explained that for the time being an advisory board of two individuals would be desirable to aid in the initial stages of the association. Mr. Zimmerman and Mr. Wood were nominated and unanimously approved by those present. Mr. Teubner stated more members of the advisory board may be added, regionally situated, in the future.

With there being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.

Respectfully submitted,

Twig Wood, Chatham Middle School
